Teezo Touchdown’s Guide to Getting the Mid Off the Streets

Teezo wears Suit and Sunglasses (worn throughout) by Balenciaga. T-shirt (worn throughout) by Calvin Klein. Jewelry and Gloves (worn throughout) Teezo’s Own. Shoes by CAMPERLAB.

There’s no way to miss the nest of nails studding Teezo Touchdown’s hair. It’s a heavy look, and makes you wonder who could be magnetic enough to attract that kind of hardware. But behind the spikes is an open door, a tender invitation to follow the Beaumont, Texas native down a rabbit hole and into his world, where musical styles cross-pollinate freely and a Post-it note might change your whole perspective. What you won’t find there is mediocrity, weak sauce, or self-doubt; only high-grade positivity. Want to “rid the mid” from your life? Let Teezo be your guide. —OLIVER MONDAY

STEP 1

Be self-aware. Know your strengths and weaknesses, and figure out a plan to utilize your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses.

———

STEP 2

Control your waste. Find fun ways to reuse, reduce, and recycle.

———

STEP 3

Be organized. Start by cleaning your room. Then your car. Then your desktop. Save phone numbers. Remember where you place things. This will ensure quality control of the things you put out.

———

STEP 4

Communicate transparently. If something’s on your mind, say it, because your imagination will eat you faster than reality does.

———

STEP 5

Cease self-deprecating conversations. Speak highly of yourself, speak highly to yourself, and think highly of yourself. Don’t try to beat the world at beating you.

STEP 6

Mind your business. Before you can be a C.E.O, you have to be Y.O.U.

———

STEP 7

Have fun. Pretty self-explanatory, even if it’s finding a mirror and smiling and laughing for ten seconds.

———

STEP 8

Be original. You can achieve anything you put your mind to except being a better someone than that person already is.

———

STEP 9

Give back. Look at where you are now and think about the people who helped you get there and thank them. If no one comes to mind then be that person for someone else.

———

STEP 10

Pay it forward. Give unselfishly. Do good deeds and forget about it. Not because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s the only thing you have to do.
